Job overview

The Youth Development Coordinator — Day Camp position is onsite in San Diego, CA. Compensation is $20 per hour. The Salvation Army’s mission includes meeting human needs without discrimination, and this role supports youth programming at the Kroc Center. The coordinator provides administrative and supervisory support to youth development leadership while helping deliver safe, organized Day Camp activities. The role supervises and coaches camp staff, supports camper and family communication, maintains schedules and attendance procedures, and helps ensure participant safety and program standards.

What you'll do

  • Coach and instruct Day Camp staff
  • implement discipline procedures
  • document and coordinate camper, parent, staff, and volunteer issues
  • maintain group schedules and camper headcounts
  • oversee sign-in and sign-out procedures and verify authorized pickup
  • enforce safety rules
  • answer questions about programs
  • report facility issues
  • handle point-of-sale operations and database management
  • assist with emergencies and required paperwork
  • support staff training and hiring
  • supervise counselors and junior leaders
  • maintain medication logs and distribute participant medications according to procedures.

Why this role
