Medical Billing Specialist — Dermatology Practice

The Medical Billing Specialist role is onsite in Richmond, VA. Pay is $20–$26 per hour. The role supports Richmond Dermatology, a patient-centered private dermatology practice. The specialist coordinates billing and collections to support timely, accurate reimbursement and compliance with payer guidelines. The work includes claim review and follow-up, appeals, payment posting, account reconciliation, and collaboration with practice staff on data entry and charge capture.

What you'll do

• Submit charges accurately
• review claims for completeness, coding, payer information, and reasonable charges
• research unpaid claims, identify causes, correct errors, and follow up
• meet claim follow-up productivity benchmarks
• prepare and submit payer-specific appeals with supporting documentation
• post payments and reconcile accounts
• collaborate with and educate practice staff on data entry and charge capture.
