The Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) I role is onsite in Fairfax, VA. Compensation is $71,000–$88,000 per year. Working under supervision, the ISSO I assists with authorization, security documentation, control implementation and assessment, vulnerability scanning, continuous monitoring, and incident reporting. Coordination with program managers, system administrators, security engineers, and customers helps protect systems and ensure changes and security activities are documented and reviewed.

What you'll do

• Perform routine information system security tasks under senior personnel guidance
• prepare and maintain System Security Plans, control documentation, risk assessments, and Plans of Action and Milestones
• support authorization and continuous monitoring
• assist with vulnerability scans and remediation tracking
• monitor compliance with security configurations and access requirements
• review proposed system changes for security impact
• support account reviews, audit log reviews, and security training records
• document and report suspected incidents
• maintain procedures for classified media and equipment
• communicate findings and maintain accurate security records
• escalate complex or high-risk issues.
