Job overview

The Director of Nuclear Engineering role is onsite at Xcimer Energy’s headquarters in Denver, CO; compensation is $220,000–$260,000 per year. Xcimer’s mission is to deploy inertial fusion power plants to support global decarbonization goals. The director leads and grows the Nuclear Engineering discipline and serves as a technical authority across programs, facilities, and lifecycle phases. The role establishes engineering standards, develops staff, and integrates nuclear engineering practices into design, testing, operations, and safety work.

What you'll do

  • Build and lead the Nuclear Engineering Department
  • hire, onboard, mentor, and develop staff
  • establish nuclear engineering standards and best practices
  • define and maintain nuclear design bases
  • coordinate scope, resources, priorities, and schedules with program leaders
  • identify and mitigate risks
  • oversee radiation transport, shielding, activation, source-term, and uncertainty analyses
  • collaborate across engineering, facilities, test, operations, and safety teams
  • develop external partnerships
  • represent the company in technical forums.
