Direct Care / Residential Counselor

Job overview

The Direct Care / Residential Counselor role is onsite in Worcester, MA, and pays $19.80 per hour. The position works with families at a congregate emergency shelter and/or young adults in the Transitional Program. The role helps residents work toward sustainability while supporting safe, orderly program operations. It provides day-to-day life-skills assistance, monitors safety and program expectations, documents incidents, and helps orient new families and manage crises.

What you'll do

• Support families in meeting program expectations
• conduct routine interior and exterior safety checks
• assist with day-to-day life skills
• document critical incidents and safety issues
• check that nightly chores are completed
• perform housekeeping and room checks
• help coordinate events and workshops with colleagues and volunteers
• orient new family members
• provide emergency crisis management to families and young adults recently transitioned from foster care.
