Field Service Technician I, Norfolk Area

The Field Service Technician I role is onsite and requires daily travel to customer locations in and around Norfolk, VA. Compensation is $58,800–$87,560 per year. Smiths Detection develops and supports threat-detection and security-screening technology intended to protect people and infrastructure. The technician installs, repairs, and maintains field equipment to meet customer service needs and support reliable operation. The role also documents service work, provides customer training as required, and shares field performance information to help identify equipment improvements.

What you'll do

• Install, repair, and maintain equipment in the field
• document inspections and repair work
• order, install, and return parts
• review open issues and prepare customer reports as needed
• maintain and calibrate tools and test equipment
• assess equipment performance and recommend improvements
• provide technical support and customer training as required
• comply with safety and export-control requirements. Travel, overtime, and hours outside Monday–Friday may be required.
