Security Operations Engineer

Job overview

The Security Operations Engineer role is fully remote for U.S.-based candidates. Compensation is $180,000–$220,000 per year. The engineer joins AssemblyAI’s IT and Security team, supporting the security and compliance program that protects its Voice AI API infrastructure and customer data. The role operates and improves security controls, audit processes, risk reviews, vulnerability response, and incident support. It helps turn the company’s security program into demonstrable day-to-day practices while building automation to reduce manual work.

What you'll do

• Drive SOC 2, ISO 27001, PCI 4.0, and other audit cycles
• gather evidence, document and build controls, coordinate with auditors, and support remediation
• own the Vanta compliance automation platform and risk register
• conduct vendor and third-party risk reviews
• respond to customer and vendor security questionnaires
• coordinate vulnerability triage and remediation tracking
• monitor and respond to security alerts
• support incident response documentation and follow-up
• maintain security runbooks
• build scripts, integrations, reporting, and tooling.
