Equine Handler

The Equine Handler role is onsite at Rooted Oaks Ranch in Magnolia, TX. Pay is $16–$22 per hour. The position is per diem, with the opportunity to move into a full-time role as the equine program grows; weekend availability is required. The handler works with equine specialists, clinicians, facilitators, and program support staff. The handler prepares and safely manages horses during therapy sessions and retreat experiences, while helping guests feel welcome and at ease. Attentive support for both horses and guests helps sessions run safely and supports the ranch’s equine program.

What you'll do

• Bring horses from pasture or barn, prepare them for sessions, and return them afterward
• handle horses safely during therapy sessions and retreats
• notice safety concerns for horses and guests
• provide practical support to guests and specialists
• welcome guests
• maintain confidentiality
• set up and reset arena and pasture spaces
• clean and organize tack and equipment
• share observations about horse behavior, health, or well-being.

Why this role
