Personal Care Assistant (PCA)

Job overview

The Personal Care Assistant (PCA) role is onsite in Spruce Pine, NC. Pay is $10–$16 per hour. Mitchell House supports seniors through safe, comfortable communities and personalized resident care. The PCA provides direct support with daily living activities while promoting residents’ dignity, independence, and well-being. The role also contributes to a safe environment through health observation, resident engagement, infection-control practices, and prompt response to emergencies.

What you'll do

• Assist residents with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, mobility, meals, feeding, and hydration
• observe and report changes in health, behavior, or physical condition to the nursing team
• provide medication reminders and monitor for adverse reactions
• encourage companionship and participation in community activities
• maintain clean, organized, and safe living areas
• follow infection-control and safety procedures
• respond to emergencies according to established procedures.

Why this role

High school diploma or GED, approved PCA/CNA/caregiver training, one year of relevant experience, and CPR/First Aid certification are preferred; background check and drug screening required.
