Group Leader – Afterschool Program

Job overview

The Group Leader role is onsite in New York, NY, with a schedule of Monday–Friday, 6:00 PM–10:00 PM, up to 20 hours per week. Compensation is $17 per hour. Flatbush Development Corporation provides afterschool programs for youth in Brooklyn. The Group Leader supervises K–8 participants and facilitates a safe, structured environment for academic enrichment, recreation, and youth development. The role supports participants’ learning and social-emotional growth through activities, homework assistance, positive relationships, and adherence to program safety procedures.

What you'll do

• Supervise participants during program operations and off-site trips
• assist with participant pickup and delivery as assigned
• provide homework assistance
• plan and facilitate academic enrichment and recreation activities
• prepare lesson plans and activity spaces
• encourage participation
• maintain a safe, organized environment
• use positive youth development and behavior management practices
• attend assigned meetings and training
• follow program safety procedures and report incidents.
