The Family Advocate, Head Start role is onsite in Juneau, AK. Compensation is $27.79+ per hour, depending on experience. The role supports Tlingit & Haida’s Head Start program and its family engagement work. This position exists to empower enrolled families and strengthen their connection to services and their children’s education. The advocate builds family partnerships, coordinates visits and parent activities, connects families with community resources, and supports Head Start’s family engagement framework.

What you'll do

• Facilitate family partnership agreements, family visits, family nights, and parent trainings
• support the local Parent Committee
• assist with outreach and enrollment
• connect families with community resources
• follow up on health and dental screening referrals
• document family communications
• coordinate with teachers and staff
• and maintain community partnerships and resource files.

Why this role

Requires knowledge and experience with Alaska Native cultures, traditions, and history; a related credential or willingness to obtain one within 18 months; one year working with young children and/or parents; a valid driver’s license and reliable personal transportation.
