The Data Analyst role is primarily onsite at a Northeast Fisheries Science Center in Quissett, MA, with work also aboard research vessels in the Northwest Atlantic Ocean or remotely in coordination with the COR and Project Lead. Pay is $80,000–$90,000 per year. Saltwater Inc. provides data intended to support fisheries and ocean health; this position assists the Ecosystems Survey Branch with tools for advanced survey data. The role develops machine-learning and artificial-intelligence models and reproducible workflows to process marine survey data. It also manages databases, analyzes model uncertainty, documents methods, collaborates with researchers and data users, and contributes to scientific publications, reports, presentations, and at-sea surveys as needed.

What you'll do

• Build machine-learning and artificial-intelligence models for marine resources and species of the Northeast U.S. Shelf
• develop reproducible model workflows, pipelines, storage, and processing
• manage land-based and cloud databases
• statistically analyze model results and uncertainty
• document data collection, auditing, and analysis protocols
• review and analyze programming work
• produce scientific publications and technical documents
• coordinate data sharing and analysis with researchers and data users
• present research at conferences, meetings, and outreach events
• assist with project reports and funding proposals
• participate in research projects and at-sea surveys as time permits and as needed.
