The Middle School Science Teacher, Leave Coverage role is an in-person, on-campus position in Atherton, CA, from November 16, 2026, through June 11, 2027. The stated base salary range is $97,000–$182,000 per year. The teacher supports Menlo School’s Middle School during an employee’s leave. The role exists to teach sixth-grade science and foster students’ curiosity and understanding of the chemical, biological, and physical world. Through inquiry-based, differentiated instruction and collaboration with the grade-level team, the teacher supports student learning and the school’s academic program.

What you'll do

• Teach hands-on sixth-grade science aligned with NGSS, including heat transfer, the carbon cycle, sustainability, cells, and human body systems
• use inquiry-based lessons and established classroom routines
• grade work using standards-based methods
• communicate student progress
• differentiate instruction
• maintain a safe, organized lab and classroom
• collaborate with the Department Chair and Grade Level Team
• integrate instructional technology
• and leave a work summary for the returning teacher and seventh-grade science teacher.
