Youth Development Leader

The Youth Development Leader is an onsite, part-time role in Opa-locka, FL, scheduled Monday through Friday from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Pay is $16 per hour. The role supports Big Ideas Educational Services’ after-school programs for elementary students in grades K–5. The leader helps provide a safe, structured, and engaging setting for academic enrichment, physical fitness, social-emotional learning, and recreation. Through supervision, activities, and positive relationships, the role contributes to students’ learning, confidence, and development after the school day.

What you'll do

• Prepare lesson materials, learning centers, bulletin boards, and activity supplies
• lead fitness, recreation, and wellness activities
• support homework and academic enrichment
• reinforce social-emotional learning
• supervise indoor and outdoor activities
• assist with snacks, transitions, arrival, dismissal, and site operations
• encourage positive behavior
• support STEM, literacy, arts, and enrichment programming
• communicate with families and site leadership
• attend required meetings and professional development
• follow policies and safety procedures.

Why this role
