The Cook assists the Chef with menu-based meal preparation and service while maintaining food safety, sanitation, and kitchen organization. The role contributes to residents’ dining experience through considerate service, appropriate portioning, and attention to dietary needs.

What you'll do

• Assist the Chef with food preparation according to the approved menu and applicable standards
• prepare and serve meals at 8 AM, noon, and 5 PM, with times subject to change
• follow written menus and make menu suggestions
• label, date, cover, and store leftovers and food products appropriately
• follow food temperature, preparation, storage, and cleaning requirements
• attend to residents’ needs and food preferences
• help reduce food waste and manage portion control and cost
• check food and supply inventories weekly
• clean the kitchen, dining room, and pantry daily
• obtain a food handlers’ certificate or be willing to acquire one within the first two weeks.
