The assistant handles laboratory reception and telephone duties, specimen processing and shipping, waived CLIA testing, analyzer quality control, documentation, patient registration and sample collection, phlebotomy, and supply distribution. This work supports laboratory operations and the timely handling and testing of patient specimens; varying shifts are required.

What you'll do

• Handle reception and telephone duties
• operate laboratory equipment and HIS/LIS systems
• process and ship specimens
• perform waived CLIA testing and document analyzer quality control
• complete daily worksheets
• register patients and obtain samples per physician orders
• collect blood by skin puncture and venipuncture
• perform therapeutic blood collection and bone marrow collection
• order and distribute supplies
• work varying shifts.

Why this role
