The Lead Instructor role is onsite at Naval Base in Norfolk, VA. It is full-time and exempt, with a stated salary range of $110,000–$130,000 per year. This is a contingent hire dependent on a potential award of a new U.S. Navy contract to QED Systems. The role supports a Surface Ship Training contract. The Lead Instructor contributes to consistent training for Surface Warfare personnel by participating in course development and delivering training. In coordination with the Program Manager, the role oversees task-order performance, personnel supervision, deliverables, and program reviews, and provides process-improvement recommendations to Navy staff.
What you'll do
- Participate in course development and provide training for Surface Warfare personnel
- ensure training courses are consistent across training sites
- coordinate task-order performance, personnel supervision, deliverables, and corrective actions with the Program Manager
- meet monthly with the Contracting Officer’s Representative to review performance and schedule
- interface regularly with the Technical Point of Contact on course content, student surveys, and metrics
- recommend process improvements
- visit both Type Commanders semi-annually with the Program Manager for program reviews.

Why this role
Requires command of at least one U.S. surface ship as an O-5/O-6 and a tour at Major Command Afloat level, plus recent experience with Fleet maintenance policies and senior-level technical briefs. U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a U.S. Secret Clearance are required. A Bachelor of Science degree is preferred.
