Director of Development

The Director of Development role is hybrid, combining virtual work and in-office connection, in Bethesda, MD. The annual salary range is $125,000–$150,000. The Barker Adoption Foundation supports children, birth parents, adoptees, and adoptive families through ethical adoption services and lifelong support. The director leads the foundation’s comprehensive philanthropy program, building donor relationships and fundraising systems to sustain and expand its services. The role works with the CEO/Executive Director, Board, leadership, staff, and marketing team, and supervises development staff.

What you'll do

• Design and execute fundraising strategy
• build and manage a donor pipeline
• lead major gift cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship
• develop planned giving
• manage annual appeals
• support the endowment campaign
• lead fundraising events
• oversee grant proposals and reporting
• maintain the DonorPerfect database and fundraising reports
• supervise and mentor development staff, consultants, and volunteers
• represent the foundation at donor meetings, conferences, and community events.
