The Controller role is onsite in Honolulu, HI. The salary range is $75,000–$85,000 per year, based on experience and skills. The Polynesian Voyaging Society works to perpetuate voyaging and wayfinding traditions and foster values-aligned relationships that catalyze policies and practices to aloha honua. Reporting to the CEO, the Controller leads the organization’s finance activities, including planning, budgeting, forecasting, risk management, and accounting operations. The role provides financial information and controls to support executive leadership, the board, funders, and organizational programs.

What you'll do

• Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and risk management
• oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, reconciliations, and cash controls
• prepare financial statements and budget-versus-actual reports
• manage grant and restricted-fund reporting
• maintain internal controls and financial procedures
• coordinate external audits and tax filings
• manage cash flow, investments, and asset management
• advise executive leadership and work with the Finance Committee, board members, and employees.
