Field Service Engineer — Utility Inverters, Western Region

The Field Service Engineer role is remote and field-based within the Indio, CA area, with regional coverage across the Western region. Compensation is $33.00–$35.50 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. SMA America develops solar inverter technology and solutions for photovoltaic power plants and clean power generation. The engineer assists with commissioning, troubleshooting, warranty repairs, and maintenance of utility inverters at customer sites and remotely. The role also supports inventory accuracy, customer satisfaction, and analysis of inverter operation and maintenance activity, and requires significant domestic and possible international travel.

What you'll do

• Assist with commissioning, troubleshooting, repairing, and analyzing utility inverters in the field, by email, and by telephone
• maintain spare-parts inventory
• work with high-voltage DC electricity, three-phase power, and inverter software and firmware
• perform maintenance activities according to product manuals at assigned sites
• support customer satisfaction and field-service cost control.
