Job overview

Adoptions Advisor is an onsite, full-time role in Mission, KS, with compensation of $17–$21 per hour. Great Plains SPCA serves animals and residents in the Kansas City area and works to create safe, lasting adoptions. The advisor guides prospective adopters through screening, matching, and paperwork so animals are placed in suitable homes. The role also shares information about organizational services, monitors adoptable animals’ health and behavior, and coordinates with shelter medicine and behavior teams when concerns arise.

What you'll do

• Guide animals through the adoption process
• provide customer service and match animals with adopters
• ask screening questions and gather information
• manage adoption paperwork from start to finish
• de-escalate conflicts
• explain services, organizational culture, and mission
• maintain knowledge of adoptable animals and their medical or behavioral needs
• monitor health and behavior and report concerns to relevant teams
• coordinate interdepartmentally.
