Staff Software Engineer

The Staff Software Engineer role is hybrid in Lexington, MA, with a required onsite presence three days per week. The base annual salary range is $129,000–$172,500. Rapid Micro Biosystems develops and services automated systems for detecting microbial contamination in pharmaceutical and other regulated product manufacturing. The engineer designs and delivers full-stack software for commercial products and serves as the development team’s secondary technical leader and primary backup to the Software Architect. The role supports reliable, secure product development through architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, and collaboration with scientific and product teams.

What you'll do

• Design, develop, test, and maintain full-stack commercial software
• deliver features from concept through deployment
• back up the Software Architect and contribute to architecture and design decisions
• develop front-end applications, back-end services, APIs, business logic, and database components
• maintain technical documentation
• participate in code reviews
• build automated tests and CI/CD pipelines
• support cloud and on-premises deployments
• participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies
• collaborate with engineers, scientists, and product managers.
