The operator runs heavy equipment and vehicles, supports daily staff activities, and performs or coordinates maintenance work to help deliver public works services. The role also responds to after-hours calls, whether scheduled or not.

What you'll do

• Operate backhoes, loaders, rollers, garbage and dump trucks, skid loaders, and other equipment
• supervise, schedule, and participate in staff activities
• advise on equipment repairs and perform minor repairs and preventive maintenance
• maintain water and wastewater systems as directed
• attend safety meetings
• maintain assigned vehicles
• clean streets and low-water crossings as needed
• respond to after-hours calls
• assist other departments as directed.
