Job overview

The Medication Specialist role is onsite in West Springfield, MA, with pay of $19–$21 per hour. The role supports the GRIT co-occurring enhanced residential programs, which provide rehabilitation for people with substance use challenges and co-occurring mental health conditions. The specialist supports safe medication practices through audits, records and supply management, staff training, and coordination among nurses, prescribers, program staff, and residents, contributing to integrated, recovery-oriented care.

What you'll do

  • Complete and document weekly medication audits
  • identify and communicate medication-room errors
  • maintain medication tracking records and related paperwork
  • monitor appointment paperwork and medication refills
  • verify new orders
  • train and support staff with medication-related tasks
  • maintain medication-room cleanliness and supplies
  • support prescriber appointments and electronic health record tasks
  • maintain Naloxone supplies and tracking
  • provide quarterly overdose and Naloxone administration training
  • conduct medication disposals according to the Nurse Manager’s timeline.

Why this role

The listed open shift is Friday and Saturday, 11 p.m.–8 a.m., and Sunday and Monday, 10 p.m.–7 a.m. (36 hours). A high school diploma or GED and completion of required BSAS Medication Specialist training are required.
