Job overview
The Behavioral Health Medical Assistant role is onsite at Greater Philadelphia Health Action locations in Philadelphia and Springfield, PA. The schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM. Compensation is not specified. GPHA provides affordable medical, dental, and behavioral healthcare regardless of an individual’s ability to pay. The assistant supports behavioral healthcare visits by preparing and triaging patients, assisting with psychiatric evaluation data, performing ordered tests and procedures, and maintaining clinical records and lab quality. The role also helps patients and visitors navigate the center and supports an orderly clinical environment.
What you'll do
- Prepare patients for office visits and assist with baseline UDS data for psychiatric evaluations
- take vital signs, blood pressure, weight, and height
- prepare specimens for laboratory pickup
- administer and document injections
- maintain logs
- perform provider-ordered procedures and diagnostic testing, including EKG, breathalyzer, and point-of-care testing
- process clinical forms
- perform lab quality control
- maintain a safe lab and clinical environment
- greet and direct patients and visitors
- update patient demographics.

Why this role
CMA or RMA certification, CPR certification, and a high school diploma or GED are required. EMR experience is preferred, and NetSmart experience and a second language are pluses.
