The accountant oversees day-to-day accounting from contract award through project closeout, maintaining accurate project financials and reporting. The work supports project profitability, compliance, and leadership decisions through accounting operations, job costing, and collaboration with project teams and subcontractors.

What you'll do

• Oversee accounts receivable, customer invoicing, payments, and deposits
• manage accounts payable and vendor invoice processing
• reconcile vendor statements
• process payroll and support payroll tax compliance
• prepare and reconcile sales tax returns
• maintain financial records
• reconcile subsidiary and general ledger accounts
• prepare trial balances and support month-end reporting
• maintain job costing reports and commission statements
• monitor project costs, labor allocations, and profitability
• coordinate subcontractor payments and compliance documentation
• support leadership with project costing and operational analysis
• identify process improvements.

Why this role

Requires 5+ years of progressive accounting experience supporting a commercial general contractor or specialty subcontractor, including contract accounting, job costing, progress billings, retainage, subcontractor accounting, and WIP reporting. Schedule is Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM–3:00 PM; minimal travel is required.
