Solar Design Engineer

Job overview

The Solar Design Engineer role is hybrid and local to the Rochester, NY region. Compensation is $80,000–$110,000 per year. GreenSpark Solar develops local, cost-effective clean-energy options for the Greater Rochester community. The engineer develops commercial ground-mounted solar photovoltaic designs and adjusts them to site conditions. The role combines site assessment, energy modeling, code research, electrical drawings, and utility interconnection work to move projects through permitting, approvals, and grants toward completion.

What you'll do

• Confirm preliminary site data
• conduct or manage engineering site audits using drone imagery and other technology
• assess site conditions and related structural or civil issues
• perform shade analysis and energy-production modeling with PVSyst and/or PVCase
• research applicable electrical, fire, building, and zoning codes
• create electrical diagrams and CAD drawing sets
• address utility interconnection issues.
