The Registered Nurse – Emergency Room, Full-Time Day Shift is an onsite role in Humboldt, IA, working 12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM and every fourth weekend. Compensation is not specified. The nurse works with the hospital’s Emergency Department team, including ER technicians, EMTs, and paramedics. The nurse provides direct and indirect emergency nursing care, coordinates care with other health team members, and supports assessment, treatment, and stabilization. The role contributes to safe, responsive patient care in the Emergency Department, including organizing trauma team efforts during trauma alerts.

What you'll do

• Interview and assess patients after triage
• triage and categorize patients
• recognize changes in condition and perform emergency life-saving measures
• implement nursing care under protocols and standards
• prepare patients for physician examination
• provide patient education
• document condition, interventions, and responses in the electronic medical record
• supervise Emergency Department team members’ patient care
• administer prescribed medications and treatments
• participate in trauma alerts, quality improvement, education, and staff orientation.

Why this role

Previous emergency room experience is preferred, with training available for the right candidate. Iowa RN licensure is required; BCLS is required within three months, and ACLS, TNCC, PALS, and ENPC within the first year.
