Communications Technician I

Job overview

The Communications Technician I role is onsite in South Hill, VA, with pay of $27–$28.50 per hour. M.C. Dean designs, builds, operates, and maintains telecommunications and other technology systems for mission-critical facilities and infrastructure. The technician installs and tests communications systems to project plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards. The work supports reliable system delivery through cable installation, termination, troubleshooting, and coordination with apprentices and project teams.

What you'll do

• Install copper and fiber-optic cable, panels, enclosures, electronics, conduit, raceways, racks, cabinets, and cable trays
• terminate, splice, and test cabling
• read plans and specifications
• label systems
• troubleshoot cable issues
• mentor apprentices
• assist with outside-plant installations
• maintain a clean and safe work area.
