Compensation is $72,400–$222,500 per year. The Deputy Head of Contracts & Asset Management is an onsite role based in New Midway, MD. , with a range of $72,400 to $222,500 annually. This position supports the Contracts & Asset Management Group at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), which provides critical expertise to national defense and science challenges. This role exists to partner with the Group Head in leading a team of approximately 50 professionals. The Deputy Head oversees daily operations, contributes to strategic initiatives, and ensures high-quality, compliant execution of contracting activities while fostering a culture of accountability and growth.

What you'll do

• Lead and execute daily operations of a large contracting organization.
• Partner with the Group Head to set priorities and align resources.
• Coach managers and develop high-potential staff.
• Leverage performance metrics to improve efficiency.
• Provide expertise on FAR/DFARS and complex contract negotiations.
• Lead process modernization and digital tool adoption.
