Archaeologist Field Technician — Ward County Connector Project

The Archaeologist Field Technician role is an onsite, temporary field assignment in Ward County, North Dakota. The assignment is scheduled for September 27 through October 4, 2026, with limited potential for approximately one additional day. Pay is up to $27 per hour based on experience. System One is recruiting two technicians for the Ward County Connector Project. Working under a Crew Chief or Field Director, technicians conduct archaeological fieldwork and document findings. Their work supports project records and site identification through survey, excavation assistance, artifact handling, and accurate field data collection.

What you'll do

• Participate in archaeological fieldwork under a Crew Chief or Field Director
• conduct pedestrian surveys and help identify sites, features, and cultural materials
• assist with excavation, testing, and screening
• complete field notes, site forms, maps, photographs, and project documentation
• identify, collect, label, and organize cultural materials
• use GPS units, tablets, or other field equipment
• follow project methods, safety procedures, and environmental requirements.
