PRN Hospital Advocate

Job overview

The PRN Hospital Advocate role is onsite in Topeka, KS, with in-person responses to medical facilities including Stormont Vail Health. Pay is $5 per hour while on standby and $17 per hour when activated. YWCA Northeast Kansas works to empower women and promote peace, justice, freedom, and dignity, including through sexual assault services. The advocate provides immediate, survivor-centered, trauma-informed support to people receiving sexual assault nurse examinations or forensic medical examinations. The role helps survivors understand their rights, options, and resources without directing their decisions, and supports continuity through documentation and coordination with staff.

What you'll do

• Remain available during assigned on-call rotations and respond in person to medical facilities. Provide emotional support, grounding, and information during examinations. Explain rights, options, and resources without directing decisions. Conduct shelter screenings and intakes as appropriate

Why this role

PRN, as-needed coverage during designated on-call shifts. First Aid and CPR certification required within 180 days of hire. Travel throughout the multi-county rural service area is required.
