CBRN/WMD Detection Operations Subject Matter Expert

The CBRN/WMD Detection Operations Subject Matter Expert role is onsite in Portland, OR, with travel across the contiguous United States and U.S. territories required for 50–75% of the month. Compensation is $89,000–$98,000 per year. The role supports the Department of Homeland Security’s Mobile Detection Deployment Unit and its nationwide CBRN threat-detection capability. The role maintains detection equipment readiness and conducts technical detection operations, training, and exercises with federal, state, and local law enforcement partners. It also supports deployments, equipment tracking and maintenance, reporting, and safe handling and transport of radioactive sources.

What you'll do

• Maintain MDDU equipment inventories, records, repairs, calibration, and deployment readiness
• safely handle, use, transport, and ship radioactive sources
• conduct CBRN detection operations, just-in-time training, and exercises with law enforcement partners
• coordinate deployments and prepare status updates and after-action reports
• travel 50–75% of the month within the contiguous United States and U.S. territories.

Why this role
