What you'll do

• Perform venipunctures, capillary punctures, and other specimen collection procedures
• verify patient identity and label specimens accurately
• prepare, process, and transport specimens to the laboratory
• follow infection-control and safety guidelines
• explain procedures and reassure patients
• document patient and collection information in electronic health records
• maintain supplies and equipment
• assist with laboratory clerical duties
• follow HIPAA and organizational policies
• participate in quality improvement and training.
