Forestry Technician

Job overview

The Forestry Technician role is an onsite field position based with the Cortland, NY forestry team; the ideal candidate is within 40 miles of Cortland. Pay is $18–$19 per hour. The role supports FORECON’s long-term forestry clients. The technician collects and documents forest data and supports timber inventory, timber sale preparation, and forest management work. This field work helps the team provide forestry services to its long-term clients.

What you'll do

• Conduct timber inventory (cruising)
• prepare timber sales through timber marking
• collect forest data, including GPS and photographic information
• perform other duties related to forest management for long-term clients.

Why this role

Requires an associate’s or higher degree in Forestry, Forest Technology, or Environmental Biology, or at least two years of practical field forestry experience. Must be willing to work out of town for assigned periods of 1–2 weeks.
