Data Engineer

The Data Engineer role is onsite at a client engineering center in Johnston, IA, and pays $80,000–$120,000 per year. RFA Engineering supports clients developing precision agriculture, machine guidance, vehicle automation and autonomy applications. The engineer builds cloud-based data pipelines, datasets and data products that help engineers, analysts and data scientists access and use enterprise data. The role also works with embedded and digital engineering teams to capture system metrics and turn raw signals into analytics, dashboards and monitoring tools.

What you'll do

• Design, build and maintain cloud-based data pipelines and products for analytics, machine learning and exploratory analysis
• develop documented, discoverable datasets for self-service access
• partner with engineering teams to define and capture performance, UI and system health metrics
• aggregate and analyze data into insights and visualizations
• develop production-ready Python workflows using SQL, PySpark, Databricks and related technologies
• optimize storage of diverse data formats
• build dashboards and interactive data applications
• develop alerting and monitoring solutions
• participate in code reviews and documentation
• manage projects, priorities and milestones.
