Solar Array Test Engineer

The Solar Array Test Engineer role is onsite in Redondo Beach, CA. Compensation is $110,000–$150,000 per year. The engineer works with Impulse Space’s solar array design, power electronics, systems engineering, and manufacturing teams to support reliable, flight-ready solar hardware. The role owns test development from requirements through data review, evaluating electrical performance, mechanical integrity, environmental durability, and readiness for flight. Test results and anomaly investigations help improve solar array reliability and performance.

What you'll do

• Define and execute electrical performance tests, including I-V characterization and efficiency measurements
• plan and run applicable environmental and durability tests
• develop test plans and procedures with acceptance criteria
• design, build, and validate test fixtures, harnesses, and high-power setups
• work with design, manufacturing, and suppliers to close test gaps
• participate in anomaly troubleshooting, root-cause investigations, and retest plans.
