The Accounting Manager, Commercial Construction role is onsite in San Jose, CA. Compensation is $140,000–$170,000 per year, DOE, plus a potential bonus. The role leads the accounting function for a commercial construction company with multiple active projects across the Bay Area. The manager oversees a small accounting team while remaining involved in payroll, accounts payable and receivable, financial reporting, cash management, job costing, and insurance. Accurate accounting and project reporting support the company’s construction operations and financial oversight.

What you'll do

• Oversee payroll, workers’ compensation, 401(k), and reporting
• manage accounts payable, vendor setup, lien releases, and credit cards
• manage billing, invoice tracking, deposits, close, and reporting
• handle bank reconciliations and cash management
• oversee year-end close, WIP reporting, job costing, backlog analysis, and journal entries
• manage insurance renewals, certificates, audits, and compliance
• lead three direct reports.

Why this role

Requires 5+ years of dedicated commercial general contractor construction accounting experience, a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, team leadership experience, and knowledge of WIP reporting, job costing, and backlog analysis. Schedule is Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM–3:30 PM; local candidates only.
