Working with the Lead Teacher, the assistant helps plan and implement developmentally appropriate learning activities, supports children’s safety and development, and builds relationships with families. The role contributes to school readiness and classroom continuity, including managing the classroom when the Lead Teacher is absent.

What you'll do

• Observe, assess, and document children’s health, skills, behavior, growth, and development
• foster positive relationships and children’s independence
• maintain a stimulating, clean, safe classroom
• assist with paperwork and developmental assessments
• help plan and implement classroom activities and lesson plans
• build relationships with parents
• participate in two home visits per child per school year
• encourage parent participation
• participate in reflective supervision.
