Job overview

The Maintenance Technician role is onsite in Springfield, MA, with pay of $19–$20 per hour. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m., with a 30-minute unpaid lunch and 40 hours per week. South Middlesex Opportunity Council (SMOC) offers housing and other services to clients and tenants. The role completes maintenance requests and property upkeep across SMOC properties, helping keep buildings, systems, and living spaces functional and safe. It reports to the Maintenance Field Supervisor and works with tenants, vendors, contractors, and agency staff.

What you'll do

  • Complete general building repairs and maintenance using hand, power, and specialty tools
  • turn over vacant rooms and apartments
  • monitor assigned building systems
  • complete work orders and communicate changes or delays
  • perform exterior property upkeep, including trash pickup, sweeping, snow clearing, and basic landscaping
  • report unusual occurrences or damage
  • work within expense limits
  • maintain professional communication and confidentiality
  • comply with safety and agency requirements.
