The Lifeguard I and II role is onsite in Wakefield, MA, with compensation of $16.55–$22 per hour. Part-time shifts vary and may include mornings, early afternoons, evenings, and weekends. The lifeguard supports pool safety under the supervision of the Aquatics Director at the YMCA of Greater Boston. The role exists to prevent and respond to pool emergencies, enforce rules, and maintain a safe environment for patrons. Continuous scanning, emergency response, and clear communication help protect members and support the YMCA’s community mission.

What you'll do

• Continuously scan the pool
• recognize and address emergencies
• activate emergency action plans when needed
• perform assists or rescues
• provide CPR, first aid, and emergency oxygen as needed
• complete incident reports
• enforce pool rules
• maintain a clean and safe pool environment
• assist with pool cleaning and testing when off the stand
• communicate with supervisors
• participate in safety drills and required training
• ensure the pool is never unattended.
