Outreach Specialist

The Outreach Specialist role is onsite in Fresno, CA, with compensation of $25 per hour. The position supports WestCare’s community outreach focused on education, support, and resources related to fentanyl overdose. The role exists to connect with at-risk individuals, build trust, share overdose-prevention and harm-reduction information, and link people with treatment and support services. It also strengthens local partnerships and provides outreach data for program evaluation.

What you'll do

• Conduct targeted street and community outreach to people at high risk of fentanyl overdose
• build trust with individuals affected by substance use
• deliver education on overdose prevention, harm reduction, and safer drug-use practices
• distribute educational materials and naloxone kits
• train community members, first responders, and at-risk individuals in naloxone administration
• provide information and referrals to healthcare, treatment, and support services
• document outreach activity and share data with the Program Coordinator
• collaborate with local agencies, healthcare providers, and community organizations
• attend relevant meetings, conferences, and community events.

Why this role

High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous outreach, community engagement, or harm-reduction experience and knowledge of fentanyl and opioid use disorders are required; bilingual English/Spanish is preferred. Flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed, and travel to community-based providers are part of the role.
