Assistant Controller — Accounting

The Assistant Controller role is onsite in Bellingham, WA, and is described as a contract/temp-to-hire opportunity with potential to become permanent. Target compensation is approximately $80,000–$100,000, depending on experience. The role joins the accounting team of an established manufacturing company and works directly with the CFO. The position handles hands-on accounting work while taking ownership of key functions and strengthening processes, controls, reporting, and daily financial operations. It supports accurate cash management, reconciliations, billing, collections, month-end close, and financial reporting.

What you'll do

• Manage cash and perform daily bank reconciliations
• monitor banking activity, wires, ACH transactions, checks, deposits, and transfers
• maintain cash-flow and balance reporting
• prepare journal entries and resolve discrepancies
• manage invoicing, cash application, and payment processing
• review receivables and assist with collections
• process expense reports and credit card activity
• support payroll-related accounting
• reconcile balance sheet accounts
• support inventory valuation, month-end close, financial statements, 1099s, year-end reporting, and audits
• document procedures and identify process and control improvements
• partner with the CFO on accounting projects.

Why this role

Four or more years of progressive accounting experience preferred; accounting or finance degree preferred, with relevant experience considered. Manufacturing, food production, distribution, agriculture, or inventory-related experience is a plus.
