IT Data Scientist

The IT Data Scientist role is onsite in Boise, ID; remote and hybrid opportunities are unavailable. Compensation is not specified. The position works with the Business Intelligence team, developers, and plant and sales leaders to improve business decisions through data. The role develops and validates optimization, statistical, and machine-learning models, then works with development and business teams to put trusted models into daily operations. Its purpose is to improve operational and commercial outcomes through models that are adopted and measured by business results.

What you'll do

• Formulate, build, and maintain mathematical optimization models for production planning, product allocation, and scheduling
• validate models against historical operations using replay and simulation tools
• tune objectives and constraints with the planning team
• deploy models with the development team and monitor, retrain, and track performance
• identify business problems where optimization, forecasting, or classification may improve margin, yield, or customer outcomes
• build and validate statistical and machine-learning models
• communicate findings to nontechnical audiences
• liaise with external research partners
• follow reproducibility, version-control, testing, responsible-data-use, security, access, and privacy standards.
