Senior Embedded Software Engineer

The Senior Embedded Software Engineer role is hybrid in Boulder, CO, with two days onsite and three days remote. Base salary is $150,000–$180,000 per year, plus bonus. The role supports a technology company building hardware and software to help customers understand and improve energy use. This hands-on individual contributor develops firmware and low-level software for embedded products, maintains the existing platform, and helps guide its architecture and transition toward Rust. The work spans design and board bring-up through production and ongoing product support.

What you'll do

• Design and maintain C firmware
• help transition development toward Rust
• develop embedded Linux components, device drivers, kernel modules, and board support packages
• shape reusable software architecture
• improve CI/CD and automated validation
• build Python tools for testing and automation
• maintain bootloaders and SPI, I2C, UART, and USB interfaces
• collaborate with hardware engineers on reviews, bring-up, debugging, and validation
• optimize performance, memory, and power use
• contribute to code reviews and technical decisions.
