The Lead Electrical Engineer — MEP Design role is based onsite in either Aurora or Rockford, IL, with a stated annual salary range of $135,000–$165,000. Fehr Graham Engineering & Environmental works on projects intended to strengthen the communities it serves. The engineer leads electrical design and provides technical direction across project lifecycles, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams and clients. The role contributes technical quality, code compliance, and integrated design solutions across municipal, commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects.

What you'll do

• Lead electrical design
• develop and review power distribution, lighting, grounding, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems
• coordinate with mechanical, structural, civil, and architectural teams
• provide technical guidance and quality control
• prepare drawings, specifications, markups, and calculations
• support project planning, scope development, and fee proposals
• interface with clients, utilities, contractors, and regulators
• contribute to design standards and processes.
