The Microsoft Active Directory Subject Matter Expert role is hybrid in Annapolis Junction, MD, with future work locations listed in Landover, MD, and JBAB depending on responsibilities. Pay is $140,000–$167,000 per year. The role supports the Department of the Navy’s enterprise infrastructure initiatives. As the technical authority for Microsoft Active Directory and identity services, the SME leads architecture, design, deployment, and operations across on-premises and hybrid cloud environments. The work strengthens enterprise identity infrastructure through migrations, security controls, integrations, health checks, troubleshooting, documentation, and mentoring.

What you'll do

• Serve as technical authority for Microsoft Active Directory and identity services
• design, implement, and manage secure, scalable AD infrastructure
• oversee migrations, upgrades, domain consolidation, and forest restructuring
• develop and enforce security policies, including privileged access management
• manage Azure AD, ADFS, MFA, SSO, and conditional access integrations
• collaborate with cybersecurity teams
• conduct health checks, performance tuning, and troubleshooting
• document systems and procedures
• and mentor junior staff.
