Substation Design Engineer – Physical Design

The Substation Design Engineer – Physical Design is an onsite, full-time role in Chesterfield, MO, with a Monday–Friday flexible-hours schedule. Compensation is $115,000–$140,000 per year. Utilitra provides utility and technology solutions, including design, construction, and metering services. The engineer develops physical designs and technical support for new and existing substations, helping utilities deliver projects that meet engineering standards, performance needs, schedules, and budgets. The role coordinates with clients, project managers, engineers, contractors, and drafters through design and construction.

What you'll do

• Develop detailed drawings for site planning, foundations, steel, conduit, grounding, equipment arrangements, and bills of materials
• occasionally prepare one-lines, panel layouts, schematics, wiring, and interconnection diagrams
• perform engineering calculations and analysis
• ensure compliance with ANSI, IEEE, NESC, NEC, and other standards
• conduct site assessments
• perform drawing QA/QC
• coordinate with clients and project teams
• provide construction technical support
• and help deliver projects on time and within budget.
