The nurse provides post-anesthesia care in Phase I and II recovery, monitoring patients and responding to changes in condition to support safe recovery and transitions of care. The role coordinates with surgical and anesthesia teams, educates patients and families, and contributes to patient safety and quality initiatives.

What you'll do

• Monitor airway, breathing, circulation, pain, nausea, and sedation after anesthesia
• assess patients frequently and respond to changes in condition. Titrate oxygen, manage IV fluids, administer medications, and perform ordered interventions. Coordinate handoffs with operating room, anesthesia, and inpatient or outpatient units
• educate patients and families
• document care
• and follow infection prevention and regulatory standards. Participate in quality improvement, patient safety initiatives, and unit competencies. Requires an associate degree in nursing, prior PACU or surgical services experience, current New Mexico RN or appropriate compact licensure, BLS and ACLS
• PALS or ENPC is required within six months of hire.
