Certified Recovery Peer Advocate

The Certified Recovery Peer Advocate role is onsite in Buffalo, NY, and compensation is $21.92 per hour. Acacia Network provides integrated, culturally competent community services for underserved communities. The advocate provides non-clinical, trauma-informed recovery support to people with behavioral health and substance-use disorders. Through individual and group interventions, care coordination, advocacy, and transitional support, the role helps clients build coping skills and connect with community resources.

What you'll do

• Provide recovery-oriented interventions and relapse-prevention planning
• support coping and symptom-management skills
• conduct substance-use assessments and groups
• use motivational interviewing and other evidence-based practices
• coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and accompany clients to appointments
• conduct outreach and warm handoffs
• assist with benefits, housing, food, and community care access
• provide post-discharge and transitional support
• connect clients to self-help groups
• provide recovery education and family support
• facilitate evidence-based groups and complete related office duties.

Why this role

Current Certified Recovery Peer Advocate certification is required; provisional certification is accepted with full certification due within six months of hire. Mandated reporter and domestic-violence training/certification are required within 30 days.
